average speed

[QUOTE=baggers;1476238]I'm relatively new to serious cycling, and am keen to know how I'm doing. I tend to cycle alone in the roads around Geneva, and typically do between 40 miles and 100 miles per ride, typically one or twice per week. My average speed is around 18mph for the longer rides and almost 20 mph for the shorter rides, and typically I ride relatively flat routes with the odd hill here or there (no more than 300-500m climbs typically, though I oocasionally do the odd col). As I ride on my own, I don't get the benefit of the pelaton or pacemaking, and I was just wondering how this ranks me compared to keen amateur road cyclists ?? The bike I ride is a Trek 5200 with no modifications.

For somebody cycling alone over these distances on a fairly flat route with my bike, what would the range be for a) a professional b) serious competitive amateur c) good fit regular cyclist

Thanks[as a teenage male I can average 22 mph on a 1979 motobacane super marage average over a 1 hour period but I will slow down to 18 mph on 50+ mile bike rides, but in the area where i live we have a ton of hills]
