Stiffness of vintage steel vs. modern frame designs?
I've developed an appreciation for modern frame design, with stiffer head tubes, bottom brackets, and snappy geometry, and I'm wondering what vintage race bikes were known to be similarly stiff. I love the springy feel of steel, but my vintage Japanese lower-end frame feels flexy compared to my Bianchi Pista, with it's shorter wheelbase, steel fork, shaped down tube, track geometry, and especially my Venturi, with larger head tube, shaped tubes, etc.
I'd like to find a vintage frame that accelerates well and is good on out-of-the saddle climbs. I've always day-dreamed about frames like a Colnago Master, but now I wonder if I'd be dis-satisfied with traditional frames designs?
