If you are working with a Trek, there really is no factory correct. This is not like a "numbers matching" classic car. Trek has the foretelling disclaimer on the brochure that there can and will be substituted parts. Bikes left the factory that did not match up with the brochure. This bothered me a little when I began my working and riding Trek road racers. Indeed, my '86 760 is a bundle of factory parts swapping. I'm leaving it as is because they are almost always mistaken for being a "frankenbike".
