I have had 3 good tourers, all early 80's bikes: Best is my 1984 Specialized Expedition. Still have it and just got back from a nice ride around & about our rural town. A close 2nd was a well used 1981 Centurion Pro Tour that was my winter commuter/rain bike for 10 years in Olympia, WA. I sold it when I retired, but it was probably the equal of the Expedition when new, just a bit ragged from thousands upon thousands of miles when it came to me.
#3 was a Motobecane Grand Touring, also sold, but I still have its Stronglight triple crank and unusual Weinmann center-pull brakes that have metal arms in place of the cable & saddle. I put them on my Grand Jubile. Don
