I collect pre 60's English Racing/club bikes, and I am a massive "period correct" nazi. I am very strict about it and I like to try and get each of my bikes as close as possible to factory spec, down to every nut and bolt and even trying to find NOS tyres, grips and rim tape. This can be a right pain sometimes but It's what makes bicycle collecting fun for me. I feel very satisfied when I manage to get all the tight parts that my bike needs.
