My Aerostich and leathers are hanging in the closet, the LD modified VFR is sitting on the center stand in the garage w/ Stabil in the tank, a Battery Tender in place and an IBA plate. Despite decades of serious seat time I'd sign up for the MSF Basic Riders Course again to refresh skills when I fire it up after an absence of a while.
Basic bicycle rider skills are sadly lacking from what I see on the local roads.
Being able to ride a straight line or enter a decreasing radius corner w/o becoming a hood ornament for an on coming F-350 are less prized than displaying Strava imaginary race results at Starbucks. A good position, calm confident bike handling, group etiquette, situational awareness or a serious turn of speed are not as important as CF Doo-dads and the latest Aero fad.
Do today's "road cyclists" make
better motorcyclists?
They don't even make
adequate Bicycle riders.
A striking resemblance to the Loud Pipes Save Lives/Just Lay 'er Down/ Dress Like a Pirate crowd on display kicking tires and polishing Chrome at your local Hooters.......Same, same.
