A couple weird things:

1. I looked on the Headbadge for serial number conventions. All the pics there show the serial nos. running across the BB shell, except for the IBDU bikes, in which case they run along the fixed cup edge of the shell. That's how mine is, but I have no doubt this bike is not one of those.

2. Seatpost came right out. That's not the weird part, but I am grateful. The odd thing, I think, is the post is 26.6, and, judging by the condition of the lug, that's the correct size.

Not certain about the chrome on the fork but I don't believe the whole thing is chromed. There are a couple spots on the fork where the lovely yellow-green paint has flaked, and what's underneath looks like kind of a lilac color. I know some of the Raleigh USA bikes used that palette, but would they have had Zeus dropouts and the brake cable stop?
