Yea the tape that goes over the rim to protect the inner tube from the spokes. All the 50's and older bikes had cloth rim tape like this.

I don't do it to impress anyone else. I do it because I know they are there and if I know there is an "incorrect" part on my bike it annoys me. I'm a bit OCD about it.
Building a bike up from mostly parts of my bench.
I thought I crossed to the dark side when I put some Dura Ace brakes on it,
but when I took the bike in the LBS to do some finishing touches,
I almost had a breakdown when he suggested I replace my French threaded
bottom bracket with a new threadless one.
He said "But no one will see it".
