Nonsense! There is no clear evidence of such behaviour. They principally eat small game (eg. Mice) and carrion. They were hunted due to their propensity to raid caches...an activity related to their carrion eating nature.
But even if you are correct, does that really mean man had the right to render the species extinct? I think not.
