Under the code given, there should have been lidocane, then an incision to take the splinter out, then optional stitches to close back up. Of course, none of that happened. No incision, no anesthetic... I don't even think the person doing it bothered to put gloves on.
So I pay $1k/mo for health insurance, and I get a nice $200 bill for a freaking splinter. What a wonderful country we live in.
We called the doc up today, and their offer was 50% off. Now, I don't know about you, but 50% off of robbery is still robbery to me. Next step is a conference call with the doc and insurance, and if that doesn't make this go away, then we'll do the same with our insurance's provider fraud department.
What a total waste of time and stress over a freaking splinter.
Edit: Forgot to mention the doc's office are being complete asshats about this. Hanging up on my wife's phone calls, etc... They've crossed the line where they could ever make things right by us, so we're looking for a new doc already.
