You are the first person I have heard say that they prefer those racks straight from the '70s which only lock the front wheel. If you have a quick release on your wheel, as most people do, it's pretty easy to steal your bike.
Actually, those racks work much, much better if you back your rear wheel into the rack. I wish that I could get everybody to do it that way.
