I know how you feel now. I experienced the left arm drop-outs too and it seems like Pioneer fixed the issue (fingers crossed). There is nothing worse than loosing confidence in data quality of your PM. I was also debating in getting an SRM, but then I realized that there is absolutely no guarantee that I won't run into the same problem with that too. SRM is probably the most reliable brand currently, but it's also very expensive and you can definitely find drop-out stories. Currently I have two pioneers and one of them has been absolutely problem free since I got it. The other one was repaired and seems to be working fine since then. I will probably add the new Shimano PM to the mix later this year and see how that turns out.
