You will have to turn around at the kiosk to enter the Cabrillo Monument, unless you pay to enter. If you do pay, turn right after the kiosk and enjoy a great downhill run and the views on the Point Loma coastline, after which you will enjoy a nice climb back up. If you paid for entry, you can ride over to the visitor center and wheel your bike out to the viewing decks beyond the visitor center for the great views. Another ride from Harbor Island would be to ride along the waterfront sidewalk to downtown, which is all flat. You can also ride to Ocean Beach from Harbor Island for a look around. Go west on Harbor Drive, turn right on Nimitz, then left at Voltaire or Famosa, can't remember which. Then ride to downtown OB to check out the scene. From the north end of OB at the beach, you can ride up the San Diego River along the bike path on its south bank. Then you would have to turn around to head home due to your time constraint.
Tx, Peter, and still open to more!
