for what its worth, I recently put some trekking bars on one of my bikes, and transfered the ergo grips over to it (non Ergon, a less expensive brand). For me personally, I find that going from the risers I was using, with a slight angled back section of the ends of the bars, is much more wrist comfort friendly than the perfectly straight sections of the trekking bars.
I realize that there are some European models of trekking bars that have the section closest to the rider with a similar "back" angle to them, like my risers and another set of mtn bike bars I have on another, but I have never seen them available here and frankly didn't want to spend a lot on getting them from Europe given that I have never used these type of bars before and wasnt sure if I liked them or not.
What I have found in the few times using my bars with the ergo grips on them, is that I would be inclined to remove the ergo grips so that I can easily have my hands closer to the "corners", so I guess you will just have to live with yours and see what works.
