Goodbye dear 17-40 f4L
I know you are in the service of a nice disabled man, my beloved carbon fiber tubed C11 (2800mm telescope). I hope you didn't kill that poor bastard that was trying to make a parallelogram mount for your ample 30 pounds of weight without any of the required accessories which add another 10 pounds (it was a crazy disabled man, I'll give him that).
Lastly, I will forever remember the views I had of the Orion Nebula through you my dearly departed TMB 92SS refractor. It's not your fault your color correction was inferior to the super apo triplet that replaced you (my new russian wife). You tried your best, but to be honest the Russian also beat the pants off of the C11 for views of Jupiter (despite being 4" aperture instead of 11").
The 70-200 f/4L IS taught me an important lesson - don't listen to idiots that tell you that you have to have focal lengths from ___mm - ______mm covered. It was a great lens, but the tele end just doesn't hold my attention for long. The wide end, though. I don't have the 17-40L any more, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had more than 10k shots from it in my LR catalog.
