I was a little confused about what you guys were referring to about the swaging, since the picture in post 26 sure looked like a regular single piece casting followed by machining with nothing in that picture showing anything swaged. Then I looked back at the other pictures showing the crank on the Ross and finally saw that the spider and crank arm were two pieces. Okay now I understand, on that design the spider was swaged onto the crank arm.
If those pieces were steel, no big deal. I had an old Suzuki with a roller bearing crank, pressed together, that model of bike was commonly used by the drag racers. 100 hp at 10,000 rpm and the cranks held up (usually ). Aluminum though? Seems like a poor spot for that fabrication method.
Anyhow, looks like a nice free bike.
