I was a little confused about what you guys were referring to about the swaging, since the picture in post 26 sure looked like a regular single piece casting followed by machining with nothing in that picture showing anything swaged. Then I looked back at the other pictures showing the crank on the Ross and finally saw that the spider and crank arm were two pieces. Okay now I understand, on that design the spider was swaged onto the crank arm.

If those pieces were steel, no big deal. I had an old Suzuki with a roller bearing crank, pressed together, that model of bike was commonly used by the drag racers. 100 hp at 10,000 rpm and the cranks held up (usually �� ). Aluminum though? Seems like a poor spot for that fabrication method.

Anyhow, looks like a nice free bike.
