I got to practice a "stoppie" this morning, as I was leaving the apartment complex. Road clear, I start to go and at that moment an SUV comes barreling around the corner from my left at a good 65 or 70 mph. It's about 350 feet away where they're visible there so objectively you have 3-4 seconds but still, that was one quick stop.
About 650 morning commutes across that street, and that's the first time I've had to abort like that.
No matter what there is always that magic timing from when the road is checked, you go to take off, and a vehicle appears. All those variables are sure to be such that at some point it will happen.
