I have been persuaded that there is no evidence that increased helmet use decreases head injuries for cyclists. I have also been persuaded that if helmet use is going to be mandatory for cyclists, it should be mandatory for all other activities with similar risks, whether that's playing golf or climbing stairs.
I'd agree, and the biggest thing I'm disapointed with is any real substance of debate on key points in the argument that are being missed, because so many want to make points but not learn from other, different points. Too many are entreched and stuck in an unresolvable stalemate that hurts any real improvement in conditions, perceptions and attitudes toward cycling safety.
