The mount was designed this way to allow both landscape and portrait mounting of the Varia without having two different items. The center of the mount is only approximately 30 mm from the saddle mounting surface. The picture makes it look bigger than it really is. The Varia taillight and the Varia Radar do not share similar dimensions. the TL is 92 mm long, while the Radar is only 73 mm, I needed it to fit both in either orientation.
