Did you find a bike store that will take a bike back up to 12 months after purchase and issue a refund just because the buyer said it wasn't working well for him? Where is this store?
Performance Bike and REI theoretically have such policies. I've never tried them myself, but I have seen people returning obviously used bikes at Performance. Also, nearly every Park Tool I have bought at Performance has been returned after its previous owner had no more use for it, their wall is littered with tools in taped back together packaging.
