That said, I'd love to upgrade. Had some minutes to burn yesterday and popped my head into a shop. Stuff there was $400 to over $1500. Nice and made me salivate with envy. But -- I'll be happy to spend a wee bit more than my original $99 purchase just to get something nicer.

I guess the reason is that ride just for fun and personal pleasure. I have fun with what I got and that's enough to keep me happy.

May whatever you ride, no matter where its from or how much it cost, give you happiness!

I was out for a nice 76 miles today on my $5K Propel. Had a blast during the LBS ride and even had to tell a couple of younger riders to "pull out" since they dropped the speed down to 22mph. I say this because last night at 11PM I was on my 2002, 7 speed Magna Hybrid that I bought at Target for $100.00. It has over 8,000 miles, weighs 36 pounds and I've gone on 40 mile "A" rides and 60 mile solo rides. Wald Q/R basket on the bars, radio, lock, lights, carrier on rear. Last Christmas I bought a fruit bearing potted lemon tree at Home Depot and brought it home in the basket. Have been at 28mph in a paceline. What's not to like about the bike?

Would I have wanted to be on the Magna for today's ride? NO WAY!!!! But it has plenty of trouble free miles of riding for such a POS.
