Bikes: a bunch

Reynolds 853, you have 1? pls give your opinion

seriously considering a 'new' bike. Alu holds absolutely no interest, Carbon is not up to the asthetic level, TI maybe...; but 90% sure itz gonna be steel.
I have lots of experience with old steel - 90 and earlier, mostly earlier. But the new stuff is definitely some steps removed from good old 531/753 and SL/SLX.
I've had a few brief rides on others new gen steel, all 'parade laps', and they do feel different, but with issues of sizing and running gear, it takes more than a mile to get a good feel. Floggin another's machine is not a way to make friends.
So I'm asking for your thoughts on new steel, as a new steel owner, especially if you have more than a casual experience with bikes of other materials.
I'm gonna be shoppin 'Off-the-rack', so custom isn't a consideration. But that shouldn't negate your opinion about the frame materials and 'feel' - Reynolds, Deda, Columbus?
I'd appreciate your opinions. Especially if your bike if 'Off The Rack'.
