I should also point out that I've learned that the shoes one wears are equally important for power transfer and grip. This is just as true of platform pedals as it is clipless. I prefer FiveTens (currently I have the Maltese Falcons). The combination FiveTens/Shimano Saints (and now the Helvas) is outstanding. Once again - I think this is most important for those that ride a lot. For those that ride only occasionally, the benefits of these investments would likely not be realized.
