No sure why you'd develop problems with a pair of shoes. If there is an inherent problem you'd know it right from the start. Unless they are MTB shoes that are put through the rigors of numerous cx runs where you might have to get off and walk/run, or exposed to water/mud, your SPD-SL shoes don't deform much from fair weather riding.
