Yesterday I installed some fresh batteries in my Cateye EL-400, and headed out to a nice, peaceful ride. It was snowing a little, but it was pretty warm at around -2C. I was going down a pretty long, well lit street with the Cateye blinking and my L&M Arc turned off, when suddenly I saw a BMW rapidly switching between it's high/low beams. Appearanly, the driver was pissed off because of the blinking mode of my Cateye and wanted me to switch it off. So, the question - is EL-400 in blinking mode too annoying for motorists/cyclists?
