On average I guess I charge it once a week, but I haven't ridden consistently all that time and I never came up with a good mount for my winter bike so I've probably only charged it 20 or 30 times so far.

I've got no qualms about splitting it open to replace the battery if I have to, and when I reseal it, I'll use something easier to take apart (probably silicone that can be knifed open again and a durable tape wrap (3M clear repair tape) rather than cyanoacrylate or RF welding, whatever they do).
sorry i haven't replied before now. I've been having terrible issues navigating around the forum. I couldn't even see your response in Firefox but can now.

I agree somewhat with your postion. I'm not afraid to try to replace the battery. I done my wife's iphone. I fixin to have to do my garmin edge 500. But both of those devices only needed new batteries after a few years of use (the edge i started using in 2010.) But battery issues within/around the 1 year mark is unacceptable in my opinion. Maybe it's not as big a problem as it seems but that is a lot of negative reviews it seems to me. Plus there seems to be some issues with the device just outright dying which may or may not be related to the battery issue. I'm not yet ready to risk my money and time on it. Plus I am short and have a short seat post and would have to either rig a different mount or go to a frame bag instead of a seat bag (which I was willing to do, but not now.)
