I stopped to check my wound and the owners got the dog and kept walking, never making sure to see if I was ok or to offer help. I was fortunate to just have a small wound, no stitches or anything. Just antibiotics. Did report the bite to the police. Doubt they ever found the dog.
I've since bought a small air horn and I've used it once. Big dog bolted from his driveway directly towards me. Gave him two short blasts on the little horn, dog stopped immediately and looked confused before turning to run back to his house.
I would have followed the owners! Found out where they live and then report it to the police.
