My first rule of operations is Be Visible, but further down there's also Be Courteous

I don't have the benefit of the hinged NR mount, that's nice. I can aim my light down easily though. Once in a while if there is no traffic and it is safe for me to do it, I shield the side of the light with my hand if someone blinks at me. If I'm in the wrong mood, once in a while I will blink back at them with the high beam of the Edison 10. There is SOME KIND of reaction, they either get it, or want to kill me.
