If I ever have a bad experience at a deli or shoe store I will consider that. There was one sporting goods store that had their heads up their arses, they are now going out of business.

I know my local LBS stopped custom ordering things without a deposit because people don't come in to pay/pick stuff up. As a result the LBS got stuck with stuff they cannot sell easily. Having said this I got my three pairs of gloves at MEC because they stock them vs my local LBS that repairs my bike.
Had they asked, I would have paid in full. I was told they needed to restock.
