Video games, TV... who knows. To me that has been the biggest "change" in the last 20-30 years... video game dominance... and big screen TVs.
100% agree. Everywhere you look there are fancy, flashy alternatives to getting out in the sunshine, and there are no bugs or sunburn or cars or other scary things. People are lazy and afraid. There didn't used to be socially acceptable alternatives, but now there are. We are image and safety and status obsessed as a culture, and it negatively effects our mutual cultural development, in my opinion. Why buy gear and suit up and work your butt off in the hot and cold for years to get good at something (that has real risks in itself) that nobody else cares about, when you can just login to your xbox and have any persona you want, AND get instant validation from everyone else online?
