I'm doing a very hilly 88 mile sportive next month - first one ever. I bought a pair of Altura team bib shorts for the event, as the most comfortable shorts I already owned are a set of Altura 4/3 length tights. The pad is fantastic in the 3/4 length shorts, but having just done 2 hours on the turbo trainer in my new Altura teams, I'm numb and uncomfortable. I'm guessing this is due to the pad rather than something turbo trainer specific.

Anyway, I've done 3 hours on the road in the 3/4's without this issue... so unless we get a ridiculously cold day I'm now thinking that I might need to buy another pair of shorts, which is annoying as I'm skint.

So can anyone advise me? It's going to be challenge enough to get round 88 miles, I don't want to be uncomfortable too.
If you were on a budget, what would you look at for bib shorts you can ride in all day?
