After removing the brake components from the fork I found one of the studs that the brakes mount to broken off even with the fork. The other side has a metal lug connected to the frame that sticks out about 1 to 1 1/2 inches and the brake cantilever slides onto this and screws into it. Is this a replaceable part even? If so does it unscrew? The problem is that it broke flush with the fork where it attaches (I assume it's screwed in) and the only way I can imagine removing it would be to tap it out somehow.
Some studs are replaceable, but most steel bikes have them welded on. Or find a guy with a torch to solder one on for you, then find someone to paint the fork. Try to unscrew the boss that is left to see if it is removable. Or post a pic at least.
