Due to a bad accident myself nine years ago I have been limping with lots of hip pain, and walking for therapy just aggravated it. Doctor thinks a hip replacement "may" help it but admits it's more muscle/nerve damage than joint problem. Hadn't ridden a bike in years but as a joke I tried one about a year ago, no pain and actually enjoyed it. Bought a cheapie from a big box store, took it back and bought bought a Giant Anyroad II from my nephew at the bike shop he manages (way out of town for me). Several thousand miles later around town I feel better than I have in years. Just retired so have more time for biking/touring so tomorrow I am stopping at a Surly dealer on the way to visit my daughter in Orlando to order a new Disc Trucker.
No matter what you end up with I hope your riding will be as good as mine for physical and mental therapy. "Life behind bars" is pretty good!
