While technically possible, the travel on the sus forks available these days would jack the front of the bike up considerably.
I don't think you'd be happy with the handling.

I'd go with the hydraulic levers and bar end shifters.

Might consider something really oddball like using a 26" wheel and fork to keep the front down..
