Got a Bianchi road bike with Shimano 600 Arabesque components for free, and instead of putting more money into restoring it to rideable condition than I could ever make back on it, I flipped it for $80 and called it a win.
Also: I work part time at a LBS, so I get everything at cost +10% and one bike/year at employee discount, less than wholesale cost, from our Big Brand manufacturer.
