It's dangerous out there. It often seems as if nobody drives with any focus on the road anymore. Just this week, I followed a car driven by a teenager who had his phone atop the steering wheel and was texting with two hands for at least a mile and a half, non-stop.

I feel as if I am destined to die on the bike, but I'd rather go that way than just about any other way. Still, I am sickened by the tragedy in Hicksville.
