I purchased two pair of Vittoria Rubino Pro III Slick tires identical except for width. One pair was 23 and the other were 25's. They were tested back to back to back - same rider, same bike, same wheels, same tubes, same pressure, same roads, same day. The 23's went on first and then the 25's. The 25's were noticeably more comfortable and took less pedal effort. I could tell as soon as I started pedaling. To be sure I put the 23's back on and could tell the difference again immediately.

I left the 23's on for about ten months. The rear got a cut two weeks ago and I put the 25's on and it is much better.

This is my experience. Other people may have had a different experience but this is mine.
