The lilac is definitely no more. What's to become of this frame is very much up in the air. I just wanted to be able to ride it briefly to make some decisions, but that is proving to be more of a challenge than I had anticipated.

As you can see in the photo below, the crack goes through the lug and into the tubing. Does this alter your suggestion about drilling/filing? I haven't the equipment to silver solder and I would rather not get into frame repairs at this point.

The seatpost is still not fitting past the lug. My questions are:

1. How likely is it that this bike was built with something other than a 27.2 seat tube? Everything I have read up to now says 27.2. I checked with Big Chainring and his lilac Competition takes 27.2.

2. What's my best play at this point for the seat post? Should I press on with the flex hone until a 27.2 post fits? Is there enough material thickness in 531 tubing that I don't need to worry, even if the bike originally took a 27?

3. If the consensus is to proceed until a 27.2 post fits, would it be better to take it to a reputable shop and have it reamed, rather than use the flex hone? If so, why?

4. Should I just find a 27.0 post and call it good?

Thanks as always.
