Just get the Polar HRM strap. The Garmin head unit snaps right onto it. About $17 on Amazon. The Garmin straps just don't work for me, even when brand new. The Polar strap has longer contact patches and is very reliable and low maintenance. I wash it in the sink every 1 or 2 months depending on when I see salt stains on it.
