I have used the "war" comparison a few times here. I never meant "war" in the sense that motorists are out there actively trying to harm us. I use the term to promote the notion that many cyclists who leave home without a care in the world never make it back home. Perhaps if they had acted more like people were actually trying to kill them a few more would still be with us.
I don't feel like any motorist is out to get me, or no more than one in a million maybe. But the semantics are irrelevant if you get "blown up" by a drunk or texting motorist. My friends who act like they are at war survive some crazy stuff, while others who are JRA (Just Riding Along) with their heads in the clouds enjoying their bike ride are the ones getting hosed.

I am not talking about not being careful and prepared...I am talking about the dramatic "I'm in a struggle for the future of mankind with these evil, baby killing, auto drive maniacs!" posts. There are ^ 300 million people sharing this country and some of them say and do stupid things. It's a numbers game - because we have access to so many people with the net, it's rather easy to find 100 other lunatics who agree with any point and reinforce the lunacy as legitimate to one another. After all, 100 other people think so too!!!
