I don't feel like any motorist is out to get me, or no more than one in a million maybe. But the semantics are irrelevant if you get "blown up" by a drunk or texting motorist. My friends who act like they are at war survive some crazy stuff, while others who are JRA (Just Riding Along) with their heads in the clouds enjoying their bike ride are the ones getting hosed.
Dunno; whenever I go for a midnight roll through the park, on the way back it seems I'm always barely seeing the same ninja college kids (half the time, only spotting them because they were too lazy to chip off the pedal reflectors when they removed everything else that wasn't dark colored from the bikes) randomly weaving back from the bar down some pretty dangerous streets, (mainly dangerous because of the other drunks leaving the same bar, and taking the residential feeder because it's less patrolled than the main roads) yet it was an adult roadie with reflectives and a blinkie riding FRAP on a very low traffic rural road who got hit a couple weeks ago.
