My experience with a Superbe bb is that the axle is longer on the chain ring side. The Shimano UN-series sealed bb I replaced it with was NOT longer on the chain ring side, therefore the chain ring ended up closer to the frame. If you are using a Shimano unit, that could be your problem.
Yes I was using a shimano bb and today I switch to a shimano Xtr bb. The length was one on the the other bb.
