I don't want to get off the subject, But I have had bad luck with the technicians in my area, and there aren't a lot to choose from. I feel lucky if they at least put me in the ballpark, and I do the fine tuning myself. I also believe there is a real difference between how a bike works on the stand, and how it works in real life.

To wit; when I put my bike on a stand, it shifts from the middle ring to the small ring normally. When I ride it on a flat surface with light pedalling, it will shift maybe 50% of the time, and it's obviously balky(not smooth). When I really need that small ring on a hill, no shift at all.

I did adjust the L-limit 1/8th of a turn. I understand the opinion that cable tension is not the problem. However, intuitively, it feels like it might be a cable tension issue.

I'm reluctant to play with the cable tension because the performance of the middle and big ring is so good.

I think I'll work on that L-limit screw some more unless you have other recommendations.

Sincere Thanks
