Unless it is in the ROTATING MASS??? Accelerating heavier rims, tubes, tires, nipples does indeed make a difference. The farther away from the center of rotation, the more you feel it.

I can tell when I switch between bikes that are 7 lbs different in weight on a ride. Especially on hills.
I've got two bikes that are 6# difference in weight. The heavier of the two is verifiably faster, even with steel rims. Weight is not always the determining factor, there is a lot at play. Still trying to figure out the exact WHY?, myself.
