i actually find that using simple gain ratios is a far more convenient and helpful way of determining the similarities and differences between drivetrain setups. since most of us run wheels in the 700x23-25 range, wheel diameter is a bit of an unncessary variable. if you are going to go that far, you should also include crank length.
