As mentioned by others, patched tubes really are as good as new -- although I never go past 25 patches per tube, that's just nuts
I collect 4 or 5 punctured tubes and do 'em all at once. Oddly satisfying.
And I find the 16-mm patches suit road-bike tubes better than the usual 25 mm jobs, although they are a bit harder to find. I think I paid $10 for 100 on eBay, sheesh.
