My bike with a triple chain ring broke recently. The frame cracked. The 9 speed components are also worn and and were close to needing replacements. So now I have an excuse to upgrade. Looking at a compact crank set (50/34 or similar) with a wide range 11 speed cassette (maybe a 11-32).

Looks like I will lose little off the top end and have nearly identical low end.
