Yes, a pair of gloves is probably the OP's best option. Either half fingered or full. I never ride without gloves for a multitude of reasons.....
Better grip
Protection for your hands in case you fall
Padding in the palm to stop numbness/increase comfort level
That chamois on the back to wipe the sweat away
