There's no need to hold the front shifter button on Di2, unlike a mechanical shifter. You can just click it.
I think you'd like the "shift 3" setting for the rear shifter. (I think it can also be set to "shift 2", but that's not what I need.)
Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check my shift preferences and speed settings because I never thought about trying a manual synchro shift until this thread progressed. My initial assumption was that it wouldn't work, but I've been pleasantly surprised so far.
