I have found Cateye customer service to be unusually accommodating. You'll probably end up destroying that cover but I bet Cateye would help you get a replacement.
Cateye was wonderful about shipping me a free replacement housing for a light. My old case cracked and would no longer engage the bar mount. I offered to pay for the new housing, but Cateye declined to accept. Give them a call.
